Unveiled

Their love is so deep that both are prepared to sacrifice it for each other…

Jane Rosemoor is the most devastatingly gorgeous woman that the Earl of Westfield has ever met. Curiously, she is still a spinster at 26. Lord Westfield, Hayden Moreland, is sure that she must be hiding a major character flaw. As he searches for her faults, Hayden quickly realizes that she has none. Indeed, he has come to admire her. For some time, Hayden has been looking for a wife to provide an heir and to mother his young ward, Madeline. Quite obviously, Jane would be a suitable choice. Hayden is at a loss for words when the woman has the gall to turn down his generous offer of marriage.

Fearing that she has inherited the family trait of spiraling depression, Jane has vowed that she will never marry or bear children. She has sailed through eight seasons, confident in her decision, and untainted by any suggestion of impropriety. Why has just one kiss from a cold and arrogant, insufferable Earl turned her whole world upside down? She would never risk passing her condition on to an innocent babe, but now her future looks bleak; lonely years yearning for passion stretch before Jane like an endless nightmare.

Right from the opening chapters, Jane Rosemoor is introduced as a woman who is anything but typical. She has planned her future to be independent of a husband and accepted her fate with grace. As she unearths her family’s deepest secrets, she is prepared to confront her impending doom. Lord Westfield also has a secret pain that he keeps close to his heart. His exemplary character will be tested when he meets his own nemesis in the form of a goddess. Kristina Cook draws the pair together with images of their common attraction and shatters the illusion in such a way that this reader could see no resolution. Bedroom scenes are romantic and believable. The lovemaking is realistic and adds another dimension to their shared love and pain. Although only her second published historical book, Kristina Cook uses penmanship that is fast flowing, and her stories are well thought out. The author is certain to gain a place on historical readers’ list of favorites, with Unveiled being a firm keeper. If you love historical romance, make sure that you try the books of this exciting new author.
