Harker’s Journey

When Johanna Harker travels to Transylvania on business for Baxter Corporation in Chicago, she never expects to be staying in a castle. Nor does she expect the man of her dreams, Cris, to be the castle’s owner. Cris has been visiting her for thirteen years on the night of the full moon, making sensual and passionate love to her by the light of the moon. He even saved her life in college. He is everything she wants in a man; she just never thought that he was real! Johanna is in for the shock of a lifetime as Cris has secret that make his appearing in her “dreams” mere child’s play.

Cristofor Dalakis is a vampire and Johanna is his soul mate. He has been visiting her in the hopes of getting her accustomed to who he is…what he is…a vampire. But she rejects him, hurting him terribly. Her fear is tangible and Cris aches with hurt and sadness. Perhaps Johanna isn’t the one for him after all. Perhaps she isn’t the Dalakis bride.

Will Johanna realize her mistake? Will she remember how wonderful Cris has treated her, or will she let her fear ruin the best thing in her life? You’ll have to read to find out how this modern day Dracula story plays out.

Harker’s Journey is a new take on Bram Stroker’s Dracula, and just like Jonathan Harker in that story, Johanna is in for the adventure of a lifetime. The love between Cris and Johanna is very strong and Ms. Walters does a fantastic job of taking the paranormal and turning it into the ordinary, showing that even a vampire needs love and happiness. This is not the evil vampire portrayed in Dracula. Cris has all the needs and wants of a normal man, and though he has some mystical powers, such as shape shifting, what he really wants is for Johanna to love him. This is the first book in Ms. Walters’s Dalakis Passion series and it is a great start with what promises to be some very erotic and intriguing storytelling. As a fan of the original Dracula, this reviewer was particularly happy with the different twists and turns that the author took, and I look forward to the other stories in this series.
