Silent Knight

Jack was running from the Silent Knight when he was caught by a plane crash. Unfortunately, he wasn’t the only one caught; there was another survivor, Sophie. Sophie had wandered in the dark and fallen off a cliff onto a ledge, breaking her leg. Five days of Jack taking care of her and her taking care of him followed. They became very close as only survivors can, then when they were rescued, he died. Changed for life, Sophie went on with her life, marrying a man who reminded her of Jack and having two children with him. After four years, she divorced and opened a café in a small town called Serenity Falls. All was going well until the day that a drifter named Martin walked into town.

Jack had known that he could die after his second surgery and had given his lawyer, Isobel, Power-of-Attorney. Isobel had deemed it necessary to tell Sophie that Jack had died and that his last thoughts were of her safety and care. After coming out of his coma, Jack was hurt to hear that Isobel had lied to Sophie, but decided in the end that she was better off. Now, eight years later, he has come to a town called Serenity Falls as Martin, a drifter.

What follows is an amazing story of strength, love and corruption. Ms. Cooper Posey is an amazing storyteller who reaches out and grabs you with her poignant scenes and characters. This was one of the best stories I have ever read. You really feel the pain that these people feel and hurt for them. She also makes you want them to win, to find that elusive happily-ever-after. The suspense is beautifully dragged out until the very end and is always lurking in the background. The feelings that this story evokes are why I gave this book a Recommended Read rating. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
