The Case of the Virtuous Vampire

Abigail Gooden is a lawyer with a peculiar gift; she’s a witch. I know what you’re thinking, but she’s the real thing, magic spells and all. When Jurnik Golub, an undead club owner and currently her mother’s beau, hires her to be his legal counsel, her life is irrevocably changed. Lurnik brings Lucan Knight with him to his meeting with Abby and they have a huge battle of wills. Like water and oil, Luc and Abby are constantly fighting each other and their attraction as well. When an old flame enters the arena, they find that they must work together to solve The Case of the Virtuous Vampire.

I absolutely adored this book. It had everything needed for a good read: a great, original plot, engaging characters, a love story, magic and mayhem. The idea of a lawyer being a witch and specializing in preternatural clients was fabulous; it’s not very often that this pairing is made. Abigail and Lucan were great characters with strengths and weaknesses that made sense, as so often authors give their characters false-feeling personalities. This was not the case in this book. Ms. Michaels did a fantastic job building believable characters in an unbelievable setting. The supporting cast is a group of people that cry for sequels or more back-story, not that they are shallow, they’re just that interesting. I really cannot wait for the next installation in the Gooden and Knight series.
