Tiger Eye

Dela Reese is visiting China when she meets a strange woman in the Dirt Market. The woman sells her an ancient riddle box and Dela’s life is forever changed. When she returns to her hotel room, she studies the box and is able to open it. Imagine her surprise when a seven-foot warrior materializes in her room.

Hari, a shape shifter, has been imprisoned in the riddle box for two thousand years and he has been enthralled to whoever has purchased the box. An evil magi burned his skin and cursed him into the box and has made it impossible for him to be released without the missing ‘piece of his heart’. What follows is an amazing trip through a skillfully crafted world filled with paranormal elements.

I loved this book. The plot was intricate enough to keep me rapt, but not so complicated that I couldn’t follow it at 1 o’clock in the morning. Dela was a fascinatingly complex character with a unique skill and Hari was just yummy. Not only was he a very sexy-sounding man, but he also had just enough angst to make him even sexier. I really hope that Ms. Liu will continue this storyline and write many more books in this universe.
