An All Night Man
The Hunter Brenda Jackson
Mallory Standish and Hunter Sloan had a hot and heavy relationship going until Mallory asked for a committed relationship and Hunter ran for the hills. Now, Mallory has hired Hunter to investigate her sister's husband and that same spark ignites into a burning flame neither can resist.
The Hunter was the perfect introduction to this anthology. Ms. Jackson creates interesting and likable characters in Mallory and Hunter and it was very obvious to me that they had some unresolved feelings as well as a serious physical attraction for each other. I especially enjoyed the ending to this story.
Just Want to Love Ya Joylynn Jossel
Jai was out one Friday night with her best friend Rissa when Rissa spotted the most beautiful man in the world. Jai is shocked when he comes over and pulls her out onto the dance floor, much to the annoyance of Rissa. From there Jai and Sloan embark on a relationship that changes both of them, however, will this budding love be able to stand the stresses involved with inter-racial dating?
This was one of my favorites of the anthology. Ms. Jossel handled the inter-racial dating issue very realistically, from the reactions of friends and family to the misunderstandings and stereotypes between the races. It's obvious that Jai and Sloan are meant to be together despite the obstacles between them. This story reinforces the belief that there is no shame in crossing the color lines to find your soul mate.
Never Satisfied Kayla Perrin
Rachel has not dated since her divorce. Her ex-husband was cruel and nearly destroyed her self-esteem and she is reluctant to allow anyone that close to her again. All that changes when her old high school English teacher enters her shop and all the feelings she had for him resurface. She was off-limits back then but now 10 years have passed and her teacher wants to restore her belief in love.
Ms. Perrin wrote my favorite book in this anthology. Rachel was a very likable character and one that I sympathized with. Aaron was so caring, sensitive and gentle that I fell in love with him a little myself. He was just what Rachel needed to be able to heal from the hurt inflicted upon her from her ex-husband. Theirs was a very sweet, touching and passionate story. This was my first time reading Ms. Perrin and I will be on the lookout for more of her work.
Fantasy Man Tamara Sneed
Olivia agrees to take over for her brother as publicist and entertain Clark Stone, Hollywood's premier bad boy and hottie du jour. While she won't admit it, Clark stirs something inside her even though he treats her as if she doesn't exist. They are both trying to hide their attraction to each other, however, with a four hour long drive ahead of them, Clark is going to show Olivia why he is her fantasy man.
This story was a nice conclusion to the anthology. Olivia is staid and prudish on the surface but beneath her austere exterior is a wildly passionate woman. Clark is a suave hunk who comes off as a jerk but really is very caring and kind. It was interesting to see these characters loose their misconceptions of each other and admit to their attraction. Ms. Sneed did an excellent job of pulling me into the story and keeping me riveted until the conclusion.
An All Night Man is what most women want and perhaps a man that will be around for the long haul. Each of the authors does a fine job of creating fantasy men that will appeal to every type of woman.
