A Sister’s Secret

When her sister died in a car accident five years ago, Brooke never hesitated to take in her nephew, Jeremy. She’s had no reason to regret bringing Jeremy into her home. At least, she hadn’t until now.

Jeremy is no longer the sweet twelve year-old that she remembers. He has become a surly seventeen year-old who refuses to communicate with her. He begins to close himself in his room. He always seems to be alone. His grades have dropped so drastically that Brooke has been called into a meeting with his teacher, Matthew Grant. Matthew insists that Jeremy has fallen into the trap so many teenagers succumb to… Drugs.

Brooke refuses to believe that Jeremy would do drugs. As a reporter, she is determined to find out what is really behind Jeremy’s changes. As she begins to ask questions, she finds that there is something very wrong going on at that school. Her sister had taught there before her death, yet every time Brooke mentions her, or a student that disappeared around the same time, she gets the cold shoulder.

Brooke begins to wonder who she can trust. Matthew insists on protecting her, but is that his real motivation? Or, is he hiding something? Brooke will find the truth no matter the consequences. Will she live long enough to solve the mystery of her sister’s death and save Jeremy?

Ms. Derby Bingley has the talent of keeping you guessing all the way to the end. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep even the most jaded of mystery fans hooked! Her plot is well thought-out and easy to follow. Her style of writing is descriptive enough to give you a perfect picture of every scene without bogging the reader down in detail. Her characters are well rounded and believable.

This is an exciting novel from a relatively new author. Ms. Derby Bingley has accomplished what many suspense authors spend their entire careers trying to capture: A powerful story with a believable story line and character action. The ending of this novel will genuinely surprise the reader!
