Internet Bonds1: The Rebirth of Rachel
Rachel Wainwright knows that she is missing something from her life. She has been married for twenty-five years to a man who is slowly destroying her soul. She has finally realized that she wants out. Rachel is tired of being unfulfilled, both emotionally and sexually. Yearning for someone to dominate her, she begins to search the internet for what she has been missing.
Rafael Donovan is a Fortune 500 businessman who knows what he wants from life. He has been searching for a true submissive, and when he meets Rachel in a chat room, he knows that she may be the one for whom he has been searching. He agrees to teach her about the dominate/submissive world and finds that she is a natural, obeying his every command, and capturing his heart. Rafe finds in Rachel a part of his soul that he had not even realized he had been missing.
The problem is that Rachel is married. Rafe is determined to make Rachel fall in love with him and rescue her from her disastrous and abusive relationship. As Rachel falls more in love with Rafe, she wonders how she will ever be free from her husband. Rafe promises her that he will do everything he can to see her free.
Once Rachel is free of her husband and agrees to marry Rafe, she thinks that her world is finally exactly as she wants it. The problem is that William Wainwright does not want to let go of his wife, even after the divorce is final. What lengths will he go to in order to keep Rachel under his control? And how far will Rafe go to make sure that Rachel is safe?
This is a very erotic and moving book. It delves heavily into dominance and submission lifestyle, along with some bondage, but it is so well written that the reader is able to see this as an extension of the relationship between Rafe and Rachel. There is graphic language, but it fits into the flow of the story and is not thrown in simply for shock value. Even if BDSM is not your thing, this story has the power to make you wonder what it might be like to be in the kind of absolutely trusting relationship that Rachel is with Rafe.
Ms. Poff does a good job of introducing the dom/sub world and explaining rituals that new comers may not understand. While the plot is fairly obvious and the sequence of events is off slightly, this is a good story. The reader is able to experience the emotions of the primary characters and understand all of the choices that are made to lead to a very satisfying conclusion.
