Sacrifice

Grimshaw is a quiet little town, where everyone knows everyone else. For some reason, some people do very well with very little effort in Grimshaw, while others fail no matter how hard they try. There is no way to tell who it will be. Life here is just like life anywhere else. Except...

Children disappear in Grimshaw. Oh, there’s always a reasonable explanation. No one ever seems to notice that all of the children who disappear have blonde hair and blue eyes. No one wants to see the pattern, until children in nearby towns begin to disappear and the bodies are found without heads and their hearts cut out. What evil is at work in Grimshaw?

How could this have happened for so long in such a small, sleepy town? How could the citizens not have noticed what is going on? Unless… They can’t all be in on it. Can they?

Peter and Angel will risk everything to solve the mystery of Grimshaw. After all, they have blonde hair and blue eyes. Are they next?

Ms. Baggett Wuesthoff lures you into this tale by making you care for Peter and Angel. Their friendship is the thread that holds them together through the events occurring around them. She draws a picture of two children who seek each other out and cling to each other against the madness surrounding them. The relationship between these two characters is a bright shining light that lulls you into a false sense of security, making you miss some of the subtle nuances of the events surrounding them. There is an instance of complete understanding at its conclusion, but you’ll never see it coming! The ending is a complete surprise.

Be prepared for heavy satanic undertones throughout. There is some child abuse and some animal mutilation, but none of it graphic enough to gross you out. The concepts in themselves are horrendous enough from the point of view of the characters that overt descriptions are unnecessary and Ms. Baggett Wuesthoff is wise enough to know this. She shows definite promise as an author and fans of horror will enjoy her work.
