Women of Steel 2: Martini On the Rocks

Martini knows what is important in life: protecting Earth from the Scarth invasion. If the Scarth succeed, our way of life is over. They will kill all of the men and force the women to become breeders for them. As a Colonel in the Planetary Repulsion Force, her duty is to make sure that all of Earth is safe.

One problem: she’s pregnant! Except, she can’t be. Really. She only had sex that one week with a M.A.N.-Mechanistic Anatomically-correct Nurturer. Everyone knows they can’t knock you up, right?

Denzel pretends to be a M.A.N. because he has to have Marti. She’s the first person to attract his attention since the accident that caused him to be rebuilt and will do whatever it takes to get her attention. Besides tricking Martini into having sex with him, he is also the son of the High Priestess, the most respected religious ruler on Earth, so Denzel is used to getting what he wants. And what he wants is Martini. Can Denzel convince Marti that he wants her for life?

This is an entertaining tale of an inter-racial relationship, though the characters are written so well that you don’t notice or care about the colors of their skin. Since it is a sequel, I advise that you pick up the first story in this series, Women of Steel 1: Marti Gets her M.A.N. While it can be read on its own, there are a few references that you simply won’t get if you have not read the beginning novel.

The characters are amusing and the interaction among them is carried well. You will find yourself laughing out loud at Marti’s raw sense of humor and feeling a little warm under the collar at the love play between Marti and Denzel. It is definitely worth the read.
