Gossamyr
Half mortal, half faery, Gossamyr de Wintershinn has trained her entire life as a warrior in hopes of acceptance from the fee. Her father, Shinn, rules over Glamourseige, and she is slated to take the throne in his absence. The fee look down upon her because of her half-blood and loathe the fact that she will one day rule over them.
But all that remains trivial when compared to the dangers of The Red Lady. A banished faery, she sucks the essences from the disenchanted male fee stuck in the mortal realm. A nasty creature, termed a revenant, rises from the body and enters the faery realm in search of a new essence. The Red Lady’s deeds threaten the very existence of Glamourseige and the fee. There is but one hope. Gossamyr.
In the mortal realm, Gossamyr sets out on her mission with Shinn’s warnings echoing in her ears. She meets Ulrich, a soul shepherd with his own set of problems, and together they head toward Paris. Many are met along the way, both friend and foe, and Gossamyr learns secrets about herself that have her questioning her existence. In a world where nothing is certain, and no one is who they seem, Gossamyr must learn to distinguish truth from lies. She must learn to follow her heart.
Gossamyr is a truly enjoyable fantasy. In a world full of pain, one woman fights for what has eluded her for an entire lifetime – acceptance. I think this alone enables the reader to identify with the heroine. While I admit to being lost sometimes, the world building was fantastic. Miss Hauf includes a little bit of everything in this book, blended to perfection and leaving the reader entirely satisfied at the conclusion. Whether you seek history, fantasy, romance, or action, you will find it all in the pages of Gossamyr.
