Treading the Labyrinth
Igor Petrov feels the pull. The pull only a life mate can exact from a shape shifter. Gor had recently focused his affection on the wrong woman and is still reeling from her marriage announcement. He had no idea how wrong he had been until he traversed to the heart of the labyrinth and discovered an angel.
Selena doesn’t believe she is angelic at all. A past tragedy has left a slight on her soul. She is a spiritual shaman and she has a very important job to do. Her good friend and co-worker, June, is facing a debilitating cancer and a soul retrieval, which used to be Selena’s forte, will greatly improve her chances of survival. Selena doesn’t believe that she deserves the love of the powerfully handsome Gor. While his unusual wooing method is pleasurable, Selena needs to heal herself before she can commit wholeheartedly to a relationship.
Gor has to be gentle with his badly abused angel. Selena is wary of men and the evil incarnate that shattered her life is coming for her again.
Ms. Morgan has used a very scary issue for women in Treading the Labyrith. The abuse that Selena suffered becomes very real to the reader. Gor’s patience, passion and understanding are key to releasing Selena from the self-imposed hiatus of her magical abilities. Selena is a very strong woman who fears the lengths that she has gone to in the name of survival. Gor helps her to understand that there are no boundaries when your life is on the line and love truly helps heal all wounds. Throughout the book June’s daughter Debby’s jealousy and hatred toward Selena seems unwarranted and childish. We see a little of why she feels as she does with the promise of her own story to come. Gor and Selena are the perfect match, and beautifully in love. Treading the Labyrinth has an eclectic selection of supernatural beings, including shape shifters, witches, shamans, precogs and more. Ms. Morgan has a fast paced, in-your-face writing style that makes her book very interesting. She is not afraid to broach edgy subjects; plus handles them with dignity and class. Great book by a fabulous author.
