Beltane: Eyes of the Cowan
New Ager Blaze Robinson is a talented witch and a reclusive author who prefers solitude. He enjoys his tarot cards, his cat, and his rituals. His successful writing career, though, demands publicity, and he balks when his literary agent suggests having a reporter come for a visit. This is not just any reporter either, but one with a national audience who could make or break his career.
Voluptuous reporter Valda Lyman works hard to keep her investigative reporting skills sharp. Her column “Skeptic’s Voice” has a huge following, but her editor is afraid that an expose on the popular Mr. Robinson will have some serious backlash. She vows to remain an unbeliever in the magic Blaze claims to possess. However, Valda is intrigued in spite of her promise to remain uninvolved. After all, the man is scrumptious and makes her mouth water.
Lena Austin pens a sparkling gem in Beltane: Eyes of the Cowan. She crafts interesting and multi-faceted characters, each leaping off the page with realism. Ms. Austin’s pithy comments and rapid-fire humor give this sensual piece wings and the usage of a “real woman” here is totally refreshing. Blaze and Valda feint, parry, advance and retreat as they come to learn that opposites really do attract. I was entirely entranced and really enjoyed this book. Miracles do happen when you believe and Beltane: Eyes of the Cowan is proof of that!
