The Eleventh Hour

Steve Kimball can’t believe his ears when he hears from his buddy that reporter Laine Sheehan is in California covering the out of control forest fire that his team has been battling. After all, the woman left him seven years ago because she couldn’t handle the dangers involved with his job as a smoke jumper. He can’t help but wonder why she is covering this story, and he has every intention of finding out. As much as it irks him, he has never been able to forget her or the time they spent together. He’s not the daredevil that he once was but can he convince Laine of that?

The last place that Laine wants to be is in the middle of this fire, not to mention the town that holds some of the best and worst memories of her life. Every where she looks she is reminded of Steve and the time they spent together. She is not really surprised to see him but is very surprised that he claims that he has changed. Funny, but he’s still jumping out of airplanes into the middle of raging fires and he still has a “fan club” of women hanging onto his every word. Can she risk her heart again in order to find out if he really has changed?

I was so glad to see that Ms. Etherington got to wrap up her series on the Kimball family. I was hooked on this series and on her writing from the minute I picked up Can’t Help Falling in Love, the book that began the series. A little more on the serious side than her other work, The Eleventh Hour is a very poignant and moving story. It ties in perfectly in tone and storyline with the other three Harlequin Temptations that herald the end of the Temptation line of Harlequin series books. As much as I hate to see this line end, I do look forward to seeing more of Ms. Etherington’s work in other Harlequin lines.
