Graphic Liaisons
Toni Fallon and Sal Aguero have been fighting an attraction to each other for months. When Sal finally makes a move at an art gallery, Toni turns him down flat, letting him know she doesn’t want the gossip that comes with dating him. Sal is stung to say the least and though at first he’s ready to stop pursuing her, her lovely image and witty intelligence continually draws him back. When he asks her out again, Toni agrees. She can’t fight the attraction any longer, can’t fight the irresistible pull that Sal holds over her. But just as they are starting to get to know each other, trying to discover what is underneath the veneers they present to the world, the FBI comes to question Sal about a woman he once dated. Sal doesn’t want to have to do it, but he knows he can’t keep seeing Toni when the gossip about him is spreading like a wildfire. Can their fragile relationship survive this new foe?
Graphic Liaisons may seem like your typical man and woman fighting an attraction to each other type of story, but in reality, it is anything but typical. Sal and Toni are two wonderful characters and the reader really feels like they are getting to know them as they slowly reveal past hurts and past happiness to each other. Ms. Dane creates a believable romance in this short novel by sticking with interesting characters, an intriguing plot, and plenty of good old-fashioned romance and wooing. This was an all around good story because Ms. Dane stayed with a tried and true storyline but brought new life to it with her characters. Sal and Toni are truly the stars of this story.
