Tutoring Lady Jane

Lady Jane Westbury has been in love with Viscount Grayson, Gavin Reynolds, for a while now. After her husband left her for a younger, less voluptuous woman, Jane has felt small and unconfident about her appearance. She doesn’t think she has what it takes to attract any man, least of all the experienced and rakish Viscount. He can have any woman he wants, so why would he want her, Plain Jane Westbury?

Much to Jane’s astonishment however, Gavin longs for the regal beauty. She is everything the promiscuous and uncouth women he normally beds aren’t. Jane also happens to want him for himself, rather than wanting to bed a half-English, half-Indian nobleman, an oddity in English society. Jane is not only beautiful and sweet natured, but, wonder of all wonders, she wants him! He proposes a series of love lessons, in order to prepare her for a man who she can truly love, a man who unfortunately isn’t him. Although he knows he will have to give Jane up eventually, Gavin is exquisitely excited for Jane’s lessons. He knows this will be his only chance to love Jane, so he must take advantage of it.

Jane has other plans though. She intends to win Gavin’s heart, and prove to him that she’s the only woman he needs. But will Gavin’s bitter heart prove too difficult to win?

Tutoring Lady Jane is an intriguing story about a woman with low self-esteem and a man who has no belief in the goodness of his heart. Their pairing might seem unlikely, but Charlotte Featherstone’s insightful characterizations make their relationship seem very natural and all too moving. The differences in their backgrounds make for interesting conversations and exotic lovemaking lessons, enabling their hearts to grow together. The misunderstood rake can oftentimes be a bit clichéd, but Ms. Featherstone brings new life to this tired stock character by infusing Gavin with witty repartee and a wonderful heart. This is a gem of a story that, given the chance, won’t let you down!
