Undercover Lover
Blythe Smithers and Tony Driscoll have been fighting an attraction to each other for six months. Six long months where the lust between them has only grown increasingly stronger. However, it just takes one massage to bring the heat and passion to the forefront and soon Blythe and Tony are jumping into bed. But things aren’t quite on the up and up in regards to Tony. He really isn’t the masseuse that he is posing as. Though he’s been giving massages to Blythe’s two bosses, Stephanie and Gavin Cambridge, Tony is actually an FBI agent investigating smuggled diamonds. He’s sure that Stephanie and Gavin are involved but his instincts aren’t so sure when it comes to Blythe. He’s ruled her out from almost the moment they met, but he knows he still can’t get involved with her. It would be too risky to the case. Their chemistry has different plans for them though.
Before she quite realized how it happened, Blythe becomes involved with Tony. He’s a wonderful and caring man and though he lied to her at first, and she can’t help but think that he is using her, he soon sets her straight. The rest of the story is devoted to figuring out just how Stephanie and Gavin are involved with diamonds, and of course, in developing Blythe and Tony’s relationship.
Caitlyn Willows creates a fast-paced and energetic novel with two protagonists who really light up the pages. Both Tony and Blythe are fully developed people who are struggling to give their relationship a chance under circumstances that aren’t exactly the best. What started off as a fling quickly develops into something so much more and Ms. Willows creatively and complexly documents the change from flirtatious into loving. On top of the wonderfully erotic romance, the diamond smuggling plot provides lots of danger and adventure for the stories hero and heroine. I really enjoyed this story because Tony was quick to involve Blythe. He realized that she could be an asset to the case and rather than keeping her uninformed, he made her an equal partner. Perhaps this is somewhat of the author’s creative license in getting Blythe involved with the FBI, but it works and it works well. Though Tony still wants Blythe protected, he’s also proud of her judgments and ideas regarding the case. Plus, Blythe wasn’t one of those dumb heroines prone to hysterics or going into a dangerous situation alone. She kept her head about her throughout the entire story and this endeared me to her.
Tony and Blythe made a great team in Undercover Lover and if you give this story a chance, you’ll be pleased to discover for yourself just how this suspenseful mystery plays out. Now I just hope that Ms. Willows has plans for a romance between the secondary characters, who are also intriguing and humorous, without detracting from the main plotline between Tony and Blythe. This wonderful story deserves Fallen Angel Reviews highest praise, that of a Recommended Read.
