Dragon's Law

Dragon's Law – Damon is the second in the Dragon’s Law series and should be read in order, however it is possible to read it out of order. The first book can be found in Ellora's Cavemen: Tales from the Temple II.

Damon has been fighting with his half-brother, Mace, for the throne of Tyr for too long. When the opportunity to see the woman who was to affirm his claim on the throne arises, Damon takes it. He kidnaps Kira from her bedroom in her father’s castle and takes her to his secret cave where he introduces her to dragon love. Kira falls in love with him as a man and fears him as a dragon. When Mace takes Kira from Damon on the eve of their wedding and marks her as his own, Damon loses control over his dragon and Kira disappears. Six years later with no sign of Kira, Damon can only suppose that she has been sent through the mysterious vortex that appears sporadically. When Mace and Damon fight again for supremacy, Mace steals Damon’s all-important amulet from him and throws it into the vortex. Without a thought, Damon dives in after it only to be taken to New Orleans where he is reunited with Kira. However, Kira does not remember him or her life before six years ago. Can Damon convince her that the world she has imagined is real?

This was a well-crafted tale by Alicia Sparks. She did a wonderful and thorough job of crafting both the mythology and the dynamics of a new world. Both the primary and secondary characters were developed in this book. I especially enjoyed the idea of the dragon bite. I won’t say more so that I don’t ruin the story. As a whole, this was a well-written book and I look forward to reading more of this universe.
