Masquerade
Katherine “Kat” Sinclair does not date anyone she works with. Been there, done that and got burned. A confirmed workaholic, Kat has deflected any interest from the guys at work. Even Nigel Trask, the handsome bookish, very persistent coworker. Required to attend the company’s charity masquerade ball, Kat would rather be anywhere else, than spend the night alone with strangers.
Nigel has waited three months to prove to Kat that there’s something between them. Even being rejected three times, Nigel can’t seem to stop wanting her. But everything’s about to change at the mask ball. Altering his appearance, Nigel, behind a mask, will use seduction to finally win Kat.
Masquerade is a sensual, fast paced, entertaining contemporary short story about romance at the work place. Kat is attracted to Nigel but will stand by her no dating coworker rule. While Nigel has been presented with an opportunity to seduce Kat without revealing his identity until his plan is complete. Using role-playing to his advantage, Nigel is transformed as Hawk the pirate and convinces Kat to spend the night with him. I really enjoyed the chemistry between Kat and Nigel. They are both willing to take a chance, if only one night. The sex between the two of them is intimate, emotional and hot. Kat has put her trust in a man whose identity she doesn’t know; while Nigel wants to prove to Kat that there could be more between them, even after their magical night together. After reading the first page I couldn’t put it down until everything was revealed. Masquerade is an enjoyable read and a definite keeper. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Somers.
