~ Quirky Question of the Month ~
Why do people say "heads up" when you should duck?
People do love a good slapstick ~
Michelle M. Pillow
Because they're not idiots and they want you hit first. (Do not play in a darts match with people like this.) ~
Sahara Kelly
So they raise their eyes and look. It should be "Eyes up". ~
Sasha White
Because when they said, "Duck" people tended to look for the animal. And "heads down" didn't sound as good. Not to mention the practical jokers who want you to get hit. ~
Mechele Armstrong
Because "ass down" is rude. ~
Lucinda Betts
Because if you're not even five feet tall, like me, there's no need to duck. At least, if I look up, I get to see what's about to sail right over my head. ~
Jackie Kessler

Your Paranormal Romance Midnight Sins was just released in November from Kensington Brava. Can you tell us a little about it?
Midnight Sins is a cross between Basic Instinct and The X-Files. My hero, Todd Brooks, is a detective. He's tracking a killer--and the poor guy never expects to fall for his lead suspect. And he really, really doesn't expect the woman to turn out to be a succubus. But we all have our little secrets, right?
What kind of research did you do prior to writing Cara and Todd's story?
Oh, I did lots of Internet research on the succubus legend. Have you ever typed in "succubus" on a Google search? Let's just say that some of those sites that appear are...interesting. But most of the sites provided me with a wealth of information, and, after my paranormal research was done, it was time for me to turn to my non-fiction crime books. I had to stage my crime scenes, after all. (The husband always worrys when I pull out my murder how-to books.)
Do you have any nicknames?
No--and isn't that sad? Shouldn't everyone have one cool nickname? Sigh.
If you were a crayon what color would you be?
Red. Wait--no, I'm not really the flashy type. I'll pick black. That way, I can be mysterious.
You have the chance to have dinner with a famous entertainer. Who would you jump at the chance to spend an evening with?
I'd love to spend the night (um, I mean the evening) with Johnny Depp. I'm sure the man would be great at conversation. I'm pretty sure the man is great at everything!
