Why is the time of day with the slowest traffic called rush hour?

Snails came up with the phrase. ~ Lucinda Betts

Because we're all RUSHING to get OUT of the OFFICE and into an even tinier box than our cubicle. So the real question is why is it that we're so thrilled to run out of a tiny cubicle and into an even smaller space that doesn't even have access to a bathroom or a coffee pot? ~ Jade Lee

Yeah, I'd like to know this one, too! ~ Karen Kay

If it was called slow hour no one would come out on the roads. ~ Mechele Armstrong

People are rushing to be caught in the traffic jam....because leaving early or late is just too lonely... ~ Maggie Nash

Because, inevitably, that's going to be the time of day that you have to use the restroom and "urine hour" sounded too vulgar. ~ Michelle M. Pillow

I guess some folks get a rush out of sucking up exhaust fumes for two hours on the freeway. ~ Sahara Kelly

The word rush actually refers the sound your blood makes as it flows to the little veins that pop out on your forehead while you wait. Rush. Rush. Rush ~ Jenna Leigh

Everyone is rushing to go slow? ~ Savannah Black

The only time you'll see me rush is after inhaling three jumbo grandes and then spending one hour trapped in a tin can watching bumpers. ~ Kimber Chin

Cause everybody is rushing to get home. When a whole bunch of people rush to go someplace, people want to rush to the front of the line, no body wants to be at the back, so you have congestion, and when you have congestion with traffic, it slows everyone down. ~ Allison Knight

It is just a reverse-psychological term some smart but impatient guy dreamed up to try to get people to go faster so they'd get out of his freaking way. ~ Titania Ladley

Cuz they're rushin' for more time and roamin' the streets. Down here in the South we call that there a "Russian Roman" thang. ~ Ciara Gold

Rush Hour? Hell, I don't have that kind of time. I've got to be at work. ~ Jordan Dane

I guess that's because of the adrenaline coursing through my veins as I slowly build up to a melt down. ~ Chris Marie Green

What was your favorite Christmas gift that you received this year?

My favorite Christmas gift this year was a beautiful boxed set of the BBC production of 'Pride and Prejudice'. Finally, I can watch Colin Firth to my heart's content! ~ Karen H.

As an admitted bargain hunter what is the best deal you've been able to find so far this year?

Well, I did find a Waterford vase in a flee market for $5. I thought that was pretty good, considering that size and style of vase usually sells for over $100!

In Davin's Quest, what can fans of Hara's Legacy look forward to and can readers expect an update on the O' Hara brothers?

Yes, you'll see the O'Hara boys again in Davin's Quest. The heroine of the book is Callie, who was just a baby the last time we saw her. Harry's grown up too, and he plays an important role that will come to fruition in the fifth and final book of the series. The Resonance Mates series is planned as an arc of five books. Davin's Quest is Book Two and in it, we learn even more about the aliens. Our two heroes have the added conflict of one being human and one alien. They have a lot to overcome, but for Callie, they'll do just about anything.

If you could inherit the talent of a famous guitarist for one hour, who would it be and what song would be first on your list to strum?

Believe it or not, I'd love to play like Tommy Shaw of the 80's band Styx. Why? Well, because he not only plays intensely melodic leads on electric guitar, but he's got some mean chops on acoustic as well. As for what song… well, that's tough. I've been playing guitar since I was a kid, so I've pretty much tackled anything I've wanted to play already. Okay, I may not play like the pros, but I have fun just the same. ;-)

You're bookshelf is overflowing with titles but what book, from your published works, did you feel was the most challenging to write?

Right now, I'd have to say Sweeter Than Wine, but it was mostly due to circumstance and technicalities. I had a new editor with a vastly different style than any I've worked with before. I had a close family member dying from cancer during the editing period, so emotions and frustration were running high. I'd also written the first half of the book about two years before the rest of it and my voice had changed considerably in that time. I had a lot of reworking to do on the front end and while the story itself never really changed, certain subtle word choices, storyboards and other minor things all coalesced into major changes that had to be made. It was tough, but I'm proud of the results.

Pulling inspiration from your latest story if you turned on your TV tomorrow and saw the earth had been invaded by aliens, would you run and hide or try to make contact?

Oh, I'd be out there trying to talk to them! I'd be cautious, of course, but I think it would be incredibly cool to interact with beings from another planet. Think how much we could learn!

What would you say is the best thing about your log cabin? (Yep, I saw the picture)

The best thing about my log cabin is that it envelops me in a rustic atmosphere beneficial for creating mood and romance in my stories. Jeweled Seduction, Undercover Trouble, Natural Persuasion, None So Blind, Be Still, My Heart!, Means To An End, and my February release, Something About That Lady, all have cabins as an integral part of the setting.

Jed, the rancher in Something About That Lady, seems to have a soured view of women. Can you tell us a little about his background?

Jed's mother had tired of the rigors of ranch life when he was a teenager and abandoned her family for an easier lifestyle. Although Jed had been her favorite son, she didn't take him with her and her action destroyed his trust in all women. As he grew older he noticed how women at the local dancehall chased after cowboys as soon as they were paid.

Canada is known to have some of the most rustic natural habitats. As a Canadian in the know, where would you recommend a visitor to your home country visit if they wanted to be wowed?

Oh my. The country is gorgeous from coast to coast to coast and in-between for different reasons. The grandeur of the Canadian Rockies can't be surpassed; the wide expanse of the prairies offers tranquility and the greatest of sunsets; the huge northern territories with their diverse habitation of wildlife and native Inuit give a glimpse into a world of snow and ice. Last but not least, the eastern region, where I live, with its numerous lakes, rolling hills, and ocean vistas encourages the visitor to slow down and ponder life's marvels.

This is the second publishing of Something About That Lady. Has it always been with Wings e-Press or was this book published somewhere else initially?

Something About That Lady was my first published novel and released by Wings ePress in 2004. Since I have improved a great deal as a writer since then and because Jed is still my favorite hero I wanted to revitalize it. Champagne Books has the ability to get it into Canadian bookstores so I took a leap of faith.

As a woman who seems to appreciate nature what is the best outdoor activity that you participate in regularly?

Walks in the woods, which I do everyday when the weather is good, gives me fodder for my story settings and a chance to enjoy a special time with the hero in my life.
