If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?
I don't know, but every time I take off my shoes for the sake of security I'm glad that Richard Reid wasn't known as the Underwear Bomber. ~
Lucinda Betts
Because it's our sanity that dies. It goes into a coma the moment we all stand in line to strip in front of four heavy set guys with metal detectors. Then it gives up the ghost the minute we pay $10 for a donut. ~
Jade Lee
So you get the "I'm going to die thoughts" out of the way right off the bat. Either that or a sick sense of humor. ~
Mechele Armstrong
It's the end of the line baby! ~
Maggie Nash
Same thing as with the broker. So later they can claim the warned you beforehand. ~
Michelle M. Pillow
Probably because of the rise in the number of passengers dying of terminal boredom while waiting for their flight. Which is delayed. And delayed...and delayed...and stuck in Atlanta...and delayed... ~
Sahara Kelly
That's why I don't fly! ~
Jenna Leigh
Just to get you prepped in case. ~
Savannah Black
'Cause the airport is the last place you'll ever see that brand new set of Louis Vuitton luggage you broke the bank to purchase. Bye, bye, bags, bye, bye. ~
Kimber Chin
Who said flying is so safe? First they make you take your shoes off, so you can't run away, then they make you put all your liquids in a tiny little bag so you can't take anything onto the plane with you, not even something to drink, so when you have to sit on the runway for several hours you get to die of thirst. Then there are the crying babies, and the tiny seats that squeeze your behind into a numb body part, and they cram you next to someone you've never met before and expect you to share a meal. Nope, flying is not safe... ~
Allison Knight
Flying puts you at your wits end most of the time. They enjoy terminating flights at the drop of hat along with your last nerve. Ah - the joys of travel. ~

Dante's Inferno is set in 18th century Venice during Carnival. Can you tell us a little about it and why you picked this time frame?
In the 18th century Venice was the pleasure capital of Europe. No other city was so decadent or so beautiful. Imagine Vegas, New Orleans, Monte Carlo and Paris all rolled into one. Casanova lived there then.
One reason it had a dangerous reputation was because Venetians wore masks all the time, not just with their Carnival costumes. They didn't have to wear masks, mind you, and the law forbade them from wearing them at certain times, but generally speaking they could opt to disguise themselves when they went out on the town. This allowed them to meet their lovers, dodge their creditors, and generally do whatever they wanted to do with no one being the wiser.
Masks are central to Dante's Inferno, which begins as a tale of mistaken identities. Serena is a widow with secrets to protect and a longing for adventure. She relies on masks to keep her safe, but instead they land her in the arms of the man most likely to destroy her. When Dante meets Serena, he thinks he's found the perfect mistress, but instead discovers he's fallen in love with a consummate liar.
They play out their games in the middle of the sensual, heady swirl of Carnival where trust turns to betrayal in a heartbeat, where no one is who they seem to be, and where passions run so high that it will take nothing less than an inferno to cool them.
What I wish I could convey better is that this story is a whole lot of fun, largely because Dante himself is such a sexy goofball, and so talented at getting himself into funny predicaments. He's one of my favorite heroes.
What was your inspiration for Dante's Inferno?
I've always found the idea of masquerade very sexy. Isn't it fun to pretend to be someone else? And wouldn't it be fun to use that disguise to do things you'd never dare to do in "real life"? I knew from the start that I'd set this story during Carnival, when rules are meant to be broken.
My second inspiration was a book called A Venetian Affair by Andrea Di Robilant. It's a true story about star-crossed lovers which he assembled from old letters found in an attic in Venice. It's a wonderful book, and it brought the era alive for me.
Do you prefer to watch a sun rise or sun set?
Definitely I prefer a sunset. I'm such a vampire! I don't really feel perky until sunset, and my favorite time of day is the dusk that follows sunset. That's when my vampire dog and I go walking.
What exotic location could you see becoming your home away from home if cost wasn't an issue?
Venice. And I'm not just saying that! It's romantic and mysterious, the food is great and you can get around by boat. I'd give my eyeteeth to live there.
If you were a crayon what color would you be?
Definitely a shiny gold one from the deluxe box.

Can you tell us a little about your Samhain release Love Me?
Love Me is a hot but sweet story about a couple who aren't communicating very well. It's a fantasy come to life - something most of us probably would never do, but would like to imagine! Melina is hurt because her live-in boyfriend Gavin seems to have lost interest in her, and she goes to great lengths to get his attention. Great lengths...
Whose opinion do you value most when it comes to your writing and why?
I would like to say my husband's opinion, because he thinks I am the best writer evah! - Except he's never actually read any of my stuff. But I love him for his unconditional support!
I guess first of all it's my own opinion. In the end, I have to be satisfied with what I write, but then again I'm probably the worst judge of my own writing. Sometimes I read something I wrote and I think "I can't believe I wrote something that good!"
But mostly I read my stuff and I think, "This is utter crap that nobody else would ever be interested in." A more objective opinion comes from my critique partner. We respect each other's different styles but provide honest feedback.
When she read Love Me her response was "I think you have a sale here" and it was! I also value my editors' opinions - they are the ones who make decisions about whether I get published!
I always take their suggestions seriously. I don't show my work to a lot of other people, like friends or family.
What were your feelings when Love Me was accepted and when you first saw the cover?
Love Me was my first very sale ever, so I cannot describe how excited I was to read that e-mail from Tera at Samhain! I was literally jumping up and down. Then I had nightmares all night, thinking it was a mistake and she was going to change her mind! When I got up the next morning, I rushed to check my e-mails to make sure there wasn't a retraction there!
Although Love Me was my first sale, it was actually my second cover, as I sold another story to The Wild Rose Press (Dream Girl) right around the same time. It is always a thrill to see the cover with your name on it and the characters come to life.
What's the worst summer job you've ever had?
Hmmm. I was pretty lucky with my summer jobs. The one I liked least was working for an oxygen company. What the heck is that? They put gas in cylinders and sell them to welding companies and construction companies. Or rent them ...the cylinders come back and get refilled and then sold again. I don't even know how it works. I worked in the office. But come on - oxygen? It's not interesting at all. The best part was the ice cream store across the street.
If you could be any super hero who would you be? And why?
I don't want to be a super hero. With great power comes great responsibility. Being a mom is enough responsibility for me! Yeah, that's me, Super Mom! I can breastfeed while cooking dinner, catch vomit in my hands so it doesn't get on the carpet, and run faster than a speeding bullet when my son's head is stuck in the stair railing!
