A Matter of Destiny

Sharon Quin knew she and the boys were having a hard time since her husband's death, but it was so difficult for them all. Luke and David needed her, so she decided to do what her dad had told her to take it one day at a time. While jogging one day, she literally ran into Luke's teacher, Joe Reardon. Something about him touched her deep inside, and that scared her. David doesn't like it that Joe is coming around so much even though he has been helping Sharon with Luke. Joe has become a friend, there whenever she needed him. During a storm one night she and Joe made love, then she found she was pregnant and goes to Spokane to see a doctor and gets papers on abortion. While walking to her car and reading the papers, she runs into Joe and he sees the papers and storms off. Has she lost him forever now that she realizes how much she loves him and would never had aborted their child? Living in a small town, what's going to happen to her, the boys and to Joe?

Joseph was told by the Head Guardian Serena that he had a mission, he had to go to earth to watch over Sharon Quinn. He felt he was the wrong guardian for this mission, but Serena told him he was the perfect one for it. After meeting Sharon and spending time with her and the boys, he tried telling Serena that he had misgivings, as he was falling in love with Sharon. After Sharon told him to leave the day after they'd made love, Joe felt horrible he'd give up eternity for her, but only if she could let go of the past and love him as a man. However it seemed she wasn't able to. Serena told him he'd immediately started losing some of his powers after being with Sharon that he had a decision to make. He could return to being a guardian or live out his life on earth as a man and he had little time to make up his mind. When he'd seen Sharon with the papers on abortion, he decided to tell Serena he'd made up his mind; he didn't want to be a man. But could he really give up on Sharon and the love he felt for her? Was he destined to be a guardian or a family man?

Ms. Drury has written a book that I have to say made me cry but also rejoice. Her characters are so real that you feel as though you've known them forever and are rooting for them to find happiness. Even the secondary characters are involved in making you feel that way. Ms. Drury draws you in so slowly that you don't realize that you're hooked until that last page is read and you blink back to reality. This is a book for the keeper shelf and one to tell your friends if they haven't read it already to go buy it, they won't be disappointed. 5 Angels
