Generation 18
Boredom hadn't been what Samantha Ryan thought she'd get on this job. But since she'd been partnered with Gabriel Stern, he'd kept her on the sidelines or doing reports. He wasn't going to make her quit or transfer, no matter what he had her do. This job was a means for her to find out what and who she was. She had to find out what was happening to her, to her body. Plus she had to deal with the feelings she has towards Gabriel and the link that seems to be developing between them. They are trying to find a killer that is murdering people every twelve hours, she finds she has a connection with the victims and it may cost not only her life and but Gabriel's as well.
Gabriel didn't want Sam for his partner because he'd already lost two, he didn't want her to be the third. He'd noticed that Sam had the same characteristics as their murder victims, the same color of hair and is also an orphan. Trying to protect her is getting harder, the link between them getting stronger. Between the murderer and Sam's past, things are happening faster than they are getting information to help solve the murder and the mystery surrounding Sam.
Ms. Arthur's novel gives the readers a view of what the future could look like. How if the military decided to do gene splicing, what type of shape-shifters, vampires, kites, and psychics we might have. This is the type of future that could be both scary and thrilling. It's fast paced and nowhere does the reader want to skip over what is happening. These are characters that keep you glued to the pages. The dynamics between Gabriel and Samantha are such that you want them to find that they belong together. Samantha's character is ever evolving and I look forward to reading more about her and the quest she is on. 4 Angels
