Sophia and her cousin Karl had been called to their grandfather's castle after his death. Now being told of the curse and that they have to stay a month or their inheritance will be forfeited is not what they were hoping to hear. There was another person in the equation, Peter Krieg. His family and Sophia's family have been adversaries for generations. The curse of the werewolf has been part of Sophia's family since her great-great-grandfather. Now with Karl missing, it falls in Sophia's hands to try to break the curse or become one of the cursed.

Gustav, Mathias and Peter all have a part to play and Sophia doesn't know who to trust. Mathias, who says he's a business partner of her grandfather, knows things about the family that goes beyond that of an associate. Gustav is her grandfather's lawyer, but acts as if there is nothing out of the ordinary going on in the castle, to or around Sophia. And with Peter, she has so many emotions concerning him, one minute trust, the next of distrust and anger, and she knows he is holding back information. But on that fateful day when Mathias and the wolf Karl came together for a final battle, she gets a shock. Mathias is her uncle Fredrich and Peter has been her protector her whole life. With that knowledge, she decides to face the wolf, the One, on her own. But the One has other plans for her and Peter is to play a big part of them.

Ms. Jones has written a story that isn't like the normal shapeshifter stories. She has made the werewolf evil as in older stories.This story reminded me of the old movies and stories I read and watched as a child, how they would make me shiver with dread but delight also. I've enjoyed reading Ms. Jones's story, her characters are well defined and you feel the horror that Sophia feels at finding out about the curse to her family and herself. The author has given us, the readers, another look at shapeshifters than the ones we are used to. If you love gothic stories and horror stories, then this is the book for you. 4 Angels
