All our Yesterdays: Egypt
Astrid Logan rushes home to be with her father after his stroke, and is surprised to note the amount of changes which have been made to Antiquities, her father's gallery. Reports of missing pieces and the news that her father had been arguing with his assistant Clive at the time of his attack cause Astrid unease. She decides she will do what she must to put things to right at the business and to give Clive the benefit of the doubt. After all surely it must have been shock that caused him to watch and not react as her father fell sick? Also, who are all these new people involved with the business, especially Duncan Garrett who seems to have a personal interest in something from the gallery?
All thought of these worries seem to fade though when she picks up the source of Duncan's interest, the supposed cause behind the argument, an Egyptian necklace. One which Clive has been pressing for a quick sale of while Lloyd, Astrid's father, wished to retain and research its history. Swept away, Astrid finds herself living as Seshat, second daughter of Nomarch Sehetep, in ancient Egypt; a world in which she will experience the greatest love of her life and also the greatest heartbreak and betrayal. Thus beginning a curse which will follow the lovers through all time.
All Our Yesterdays: EGYPT by author Janet Lane Walters is the beginning of a series that is being presented like the serials of old, where the story is told in sections and the reader is left in anticipation of what is to come. It is being promoted as a time travel romance but I would describe it more as one of reincarnation. Astrid's experiences seem to be something she is reliving from when she was Seshat, not Astrid going back in time to become Seshat. That point aside I thoroughly enjoyed the tale from start to cliffhanger finish. The images of ancient Egypt and the love and heartbreak Seshat experiences are as real to the reader as they are to Astrid living/reliving them. I will be biting my nails waiting for the next installment to find out what the future and the past hold in store for Astrid. All Our Yesterdays: EGYPT is a quite enjoyable read and is very deserving of a solid 4 angel rating.
