Famous Last Words

Lynn Edward's affair with her English professor seemed to be only filled with pluses. Sure the professor, Benjamin Effingham, refuses to acknowledge the relationship outside of the bedroom and he can be vicious and demanding when critiquing her work, but it is worth it to Lynn when she watches her work improve. Instead of being discouraged she gains confidence...enough to submit her work for publication without telling the professor. It comes as a shock when she accidentally discovers he has taken some of her supposedly inferior work and published it under his own name. Then to add fuel to the fire he completely trashes her latest work in class as an example of hopelessly worthless writing. The shock of these events and the level of his deception prove to be the end for Lynn...literally.

Now Lynn spends her time planning her revenge against the professor. He will without a doubt get his just rewards for his treachery. For where Lynn is now she has nothing but time, and the professor's time is getting shorter by the minute.

I picked this story looking for something different, a change of pace of sorts and Famous Last Words by Regan Black more than delivered. It intrigued me, surprised me, and made me think. I found it an interesting and inventive plot twist for the author to use herself as a character in the story. Bravo for coming up with a unique approach to the age old 'he done me wrong now I want revenge' theme. I highly recommend this very short but extremely enjoyable and memorable read. 5 angels!
