Krista McGillicutty is not looking forward to her three-week stay at the Lazy Z Ranch in Wyoming, especially when she finds out her sister Stephanie can’t make it. She’s ready to turn back home to Seattle when she notices the trail boss, Landon Roger. He’s handsome, sweet, and very, very sexy. Krista has been celibate for two years and the sight of his hard body in Levis does things for her libido that she hasn’t felt for a long time. It’s too bad that Landon doesn’t like city girls. Soon the strong attraction proves too much to ignore and Krista and Landon make love. This was a short but very sweet romance story. Julia Templeton does a good job of writing about life on a trail ride while still managing to further the romance between Krista and Landon. The secondary characters of Cory, Landon’s cocky younger cousin, and Betty, one of the ladies on the trail ride, help to round out the story very well. I really felt Landon’s pain when I found out why he doesn’t like the city. He definitely has a good reason, one that made it very hard for him to overcome his animosity to the city and all it represented. Krista was a quirky and sweet heroine, a journalist dedicated to her career, but she soon finds out that there is much more to life than working all the time. This is the perfect story to curl up with if you need a short but satisfying read.
