Dragons Rise

Prince Bren of Xicanth is away from his kingdom to negotiate several new treaties for his realm. Of particular importance is his proposal to protect the world’s dragons from hunting and persecution in the seven kingdoms. Bren isn’t just concerned about this new plan for expediency’s sake. This is of a more personal matter for him, especially considering he and his entire family consists of shape-shifting dragons. Yet, unlike his father, brother and sister, Bren has never accepted the dragon who encompasses his mind and at times takes control of his body. Although he has developed a weary sort of peace with the creature, he refuses to give over to its dictates by allowing it to choose a mate for him. But…how can a man/dragon prepare himself for a woman of fantasy?

Keene is a shape-shifting human, capable of taking on any form. Sent on a secret mission to intercept something important from Bren, she is unsure what to make of him when she first meets him. When Keene fails her first, second, and third tasks, she becomes determined to bring Bren to his knees. She is willing to do and experience anything for the sake of victory.

What follows is a delightful, sexual, and stimulating dance of two strong-willed characters. Ms. St. Clare has found a way to bring the myth of the dragon and the power of love together. At times, Bren’s constant rejection of his person/dragon was a bit trying, and the plot was a bit thin. The passion of the two characters literally steams off the electronic pages. I recommend this story to fans of Ms. St. Clare and anyone who loves a dose of fantasy.
