Breeding Ground

Commander Alexandria Frazier and her crew are heading back to Earth after a long mission into deep space. It has only been two years for them but 1500 years have passed by on Earth. Alex signed up for this mission after the passing of her husband. It was a difficult decision for most of the scientists since all their loved ones will have died by the time they returned to Earth. The crew consists of 7 human scientists and 4 droids. When a meteor shower propels them into the future, they are confronted with an Earth that has been ravaged by nuclear war. It is a “new” world where there are two main groups: a female dominated society, the Takuri and a male dominated society, the Xandi. The Xandi is ruled by an immortal, King Malik Ahmose. The Takuri await the return of their Queen, Alexandria the Great who is prophesised to defeat their enemy.

Alex is the personification of a modern female warrior. She is intelligent, feisty and courageous. She has the absolute loyalty of her crew as they adapt to the “new” Earth. Alex is faced with dangerous situations and ably handles it. Malik is a dangerous man, a shapeshifter with eternal life. He is an Alpha male to the very core. He knows he wants Alex but she brings forth his tender emotions too. Malik and Alex are just wonderful together. The depth of emotions displayed by both leads is touching as the reader can feel their pain as well as their joy. Once again, Ms. Black shows why she is the “Queen of Steam” as the sexual tension is sizzling hot between Alex and Malik. They set off sparks when they are together and the reader is fully vested in their story.

Breeding Ground is another terrific book from Ms. Black. It has everything a reader of “romantica” could want: romance, action and intense erotica. Ms. Black intertwines her story with touches of sci-fi and fantasy. It is an intensely packed adventure sweeping the reader along for a great ride.
