The Wizard’s Staff

Hilary Ewing believes in the power of magic. Yet even her intuition and ability could not prepare her for the events surrounding the auctioned wizard’s staff. When she holds it in her hands, she finds herself face-to-face with the wizard himself, the sexy Magnum de Brun. What will happen now that he has been released from his “prison”?

Lani Aames offers a quick read that delivers a romance in a steamy, imaginative manner. Hilary is a fun character, with a believable openness about her. It is easy to visualize her as the woman you might meet in a magic shop. Her reaction to the staff hints that something wonderful is about to happen and sure enough it does in the form of Magnum. His character, while light on development, will entertain readers with his sexuality and appreciation for all things in Hilary’s world. The story has lots going on in its thirty-eight pages and might leave a few readers disappointed that everything is explained away. However, this reader enjoyed the exchanges between Hilary and Magnum and is hoping that we’ll get a chance to read Shadow’s story.
