Twice Upon a Roadtrip
Jillian thought she was having a bad day, but it is nothing compared to the turn of events her vacation is going to take.
Jillian Delaney had been waiting four years for this promotion and now the library has gone and hired someone else. The gall of some people! Of course the day just gets worse when she accidentally abuses the wrong car in her frustration and meets the son of her soon-to-be boss. Sure, the man is sexy, but his arrogance knows no bounds. By the time they finish their conversation, she is not only hot and bothered by his backside but also irritated by his attitude and impetuously quits her job.
Ethan Cooper may like looking at Jillian Delaney, but she has to be the most unstable person he has every met. He is not pleased that she has left his mother in the lurch at the library, but based on how flighty she seems he is not surprised. As he strives to get her off his mind, he concedes to accompany his mother on a trip to Florida for a last bit of fun before they get back to the grind of work. Of course, when Jillian ends up being his seatmate for the trip to Florida, this is one road trip neither will forget.
Shannon Stacey had me laughing within the first page. Jillian and Ethan’s story is delivered with a sense of humor and plenty of passion. Readers can’t help but be entertained as these two butt heads and try to ignore the chemistry that crackles the air around them. Anything that can go wrong will when these two are together, but eventually, like them, readers won’t mind at all. The plot moves quickly with the humor being seamlessly interwoven with the passion that is between them. There are moments where deeper glimpses of the characters are seen, and readers will understand just what motivates these two to be who they are. The ending is filled with just as much humor as the rest of their relationship, and yet readers will be touched by just how far one man and one woman will go to face their fears and find a future.
