Sarah Cassidy's heart froze on April 29, 1945, when they delivered her husband's body home. Her husband, John, never made it out of the war alive, just days before the V.E. ended it. Sarah goes back to her home, only to have vivid, erotic dreams about this tattooed stranger. The next day, after doing some farm chores, she finds the tattooed stranger named Tom sleeping in her hay! Sarah senses Tom's vulnerability and finds out that he has run away from the carnival. A carnival where a man named Art Reed has kept Tom a literal prisoner since his fortuneteller mother died when he was eight years old. Sarah offers Tom the job as handyman on the farm in exchange for a place to stay and meals. Soon, Sarah and Tom become friends. He is everything she could want in a man. Tom is sexy, intense, attractive, responsible, sweet, gentle and loving. Their newfound love is threatened by the prejudice of Sarah's small town and the evil Art Reed. Can they find the strength to overcome these obstacles? Sarah and Tom will soon find out.

Bone Deep is a perfect title. It cuts right to the bone with its emotional intensity and depth. I found myself almost feeling like a voyeur when it came to Sarah and Tom's life. They are a very special couple. Sarah has no pretense in her. What you see, is what you get with Sarah. Tom has an almost child like innocence because of the childhood he was deprived of. When you find out some of the horrible things that happened to Tom, you will cringe. I liked that the story setting is the year of 1946. It is rare to find an erotica in that time period. This story is not just erotica, it is also a romance. Do take the time to read this book.
