Chinatown Buffet

In Shannon Leigh’s Chinatown Buffet, Mei Ling Zhao orders Chinese take-out by way of special delivery.

Mei Ling Zhao is the new corporate executive of the Chinese American Development Corporation. She loves her work, save for the hostility radiating from her co-workers because she is a female in a previously male only position. Annoyed and slightly tipsy she opens her phone book to order take-out.

Travis Marshal accepts his friend’s offer of posing as a delivery boy for Chinatown Buffet so he can check out his company’s competition. When he arrives, all thoughts of business flee in the wake of his prevailing and ardent yearning for Mei Ling Zhao. Instead he spends his time transporting Mei to steamy orgasmic heights in hopes of rendering a different kind of business merger.

Chinatown Buffet is a sensuous tale of corporate loneliness. Mei is lonely at the pinnacle where she is viewed as the “Iron Maiden.” Travis has his choice of female companions; however, they do not understand or value his career leaving him wanting more. Maybe it is time they find a companion who shares their goals? Shannon Leigh deftly and evocatively depicts the isolation at the summit with a vigorous measure of pent-up ardent passion. The fervor from Chinatown Buffet had my monitor steaming up.
