Fang Dysfunction

Erin has been a vampire for two years. She was turned by a stranger (Derrick) after being hit by a car, who proceeded to turn her into a vampire, give her the best sex of her life and make her believe he is the one she’ll be with for all eternity – before dumping her off on a friend, telling her he is not ready for commitment. Two years have passed, and she is still living with Kayla, who has become a friend. She has no sex life, even though the aura she gives off makes men rush to her. Life as a vampire is not as she expected it to be. Now she’s having teething problems. Her fang is shrinking – and with it she is dehydrating from lack of blood sustenance. It has been three days since she ate, and for a relative newbie that is very dangerous. When her friend and flat mate sees the problem, she decides there is only one thing for it: since the thought of Derrick is the only thing that is getting her tooth up, he will have to be the one to feed her. When they get to Derrick’s flat, they find him engaged in more than feeding – with more than one woman. Erin sees red. Do they talk things out properly and realize that they are meant to be together for all eternity, that everything that had happened had been due to misunderstandings? Or do they just go hell bent for leather to make up for lost time? Does Erin get the feeding she so desperately needs?

I haven’t read anything by Anna Evans before, but this short tale shows that she definitely has a way with words. Unexpected laughs could be heard coming from my general direction as I read this story that is quite humorous. The characters are great, Erin being the most developed. Kayla sounds outgoing and fun. Derrick is a sweet, considering type of guy with the qualities you’d like in your own partner. This is fairly different from other vampire stories I have read, and does contain described, though not thoroughly detailed, sex scenes, including a ménage – and a fabulous shower scene. This is an enjoyable short story, perfect if you’re always on the go.
