Briana

Briana McBride has been working her dad’s ranch in the capacity of foreman ever since the actual foreman died in an accident. When Briana’s dad, Raymond, sends her to pick up their new foreman, Nicholas McMurtry, she is not happy. She is even more frustrated and disappointed when that new foreman turns out to be a drunk. However, he has brought his son, Logan, with him and Briana instantly takes a liking to him. Will she learn to like Nicholas as much as she likes Logan?

Nicholas McMurtry is moving himself and his son across the county hoping to start over. In desperate need to put the horrible memories of his past behind him, he takes a job for Raymond McBride down in Texas. Arriving at the train station, he is met by Raymond’s daughter, Briana; a beautiful woman that his son immediately likes. Unfortunately, her opinion of him is not as glowing as the one she has for Logan. What will he do: avoid her or try to win her over? He is unsure.

Once Nicholas and Briana get settled into the routine at the ranch, they find that they tend to think about one another more than they should. Nicholas does not need a woman; at least not one like Briana. Briana is certain that a man like Nicholas would not be attracted to her. With accidents happening all around Briana, Nicholas is determined to get to the bottom of them. What he finds will not only shock him but will also devastate Briana? Can the two of them set aside their differences, come to terms with their emotions, and overcome the obstacles that are thrown their way in order to see the silver lining the ranch has offered them?

Briana intensely draws the readers in with the wonderful backdrop of a ranch in the 1880’s and the personality of Briana. Briana is a tender-hearted, hard-working daughter that is met with many struggles due to her family. She is determined to meet every one of them head on. This quality will immediately hook readers: they will love her. Nicholas is a more complicated character with inner struggles of his own. He is a devoted father though, which in turn will have readers cheering for him to overcome his inner demons. Briana and Nicholas are a wonderful combination of realistic characters. The plot is consumed with twists and turns and hidden agendas that will leave readers glued to their seats until the last page is read; all the while holding their breath for Briana and Nicholas to survive. The secondary characters offer a wide variety of characters: some of which readers will love and some they will loath. While Briana and Nicholas have found a dear place in my heart, Logan and Miss Abby provide an addition to the story that is heartfelt and rewarding: the icing on the cake. Tammy Boulds has done a tremendous job intriguing the reader’s interest with an ever-evolving plot and diverse characters as well as created a memorable historical western. This was the first historical western that I have read and it will not be my last. Briana has opened my eyes to another wonderful type of book. Tammy Boulds has earned herself 5 Angels for her hard work.
