Everything Counts

For Elspeth, everything counts: literally. Elspeth uses numbers, formulas, and calculations to make choices and decisions about everything. When she meets the one man that she has every really loved again, she struggles with her emotions. Emotions are the one thing that you cannot assign a number to and that makes it difficult to calculate what Elspeth should do. Receiving some advice from another, Elspeth comes to the conclusion that she cannot control the outcome in matters of the heart. Either Connell still loves her or he hates her like he said. Will Elspeth risk finding out the answer? Can someone that has always know the outcome first be able to let someone else decide her future?

Mary Hart has offered readers a short story about magic and the magic of love. Connell’s inability to love another woman after Elspeth is heartfelt. Elspeth’s desire to keep the one she loves safe from undue harm is touching. Elspeth’s realizations that sometimes love is more important than anything else is endearing to witness. It was a pleasure to watch the story unfold between Elspeth and Connell to the point that Elspeth is able to have what she has worked so hard for. Everything Counts is a touching short story in the midst of fantasy and has earned 4 Angels!
