Guilty Little Secrets
Laura Cameron has moved home for a new job. She is happy to be near her brother, Matt, again. They have a strong relationship that means a lot to Laura. Soon after arriving in San Francisco, she learns that Matt’s best friend, Blake, has moved back home too. Normally, this would be of no concern to Laura other than for Matt’s own happiness. However, Laura has spent many years dreaming of him. Nothing ever came of her flirting with him all those years ago, but Laura is not a teenager any more. Blake just doesn’t know it yet. Can she get Blake to see her for more than what she was back then? Will she have the man of her dreams?
Blake Alexander has spent years away in the Army, but has come back to San Francisco to open his own business. Lucky for Blake, Laura no longer lives there; at least that was what he thought. When he arrives at Matt’s house and sees her sitting there, he is surprised that his feelings are as strong as they were all those years ago. Of course he cannot act on them, he is Matt’s best friend and best friends just don’t do that. If only Laura would cooperate with him. Can he have Laura and Matt both? Will he lose one for the other?
Guilty Little Secrets is a beautifully written romance. Being instantly drawn into the intense unspoken passion between Blake and Laura, I was unable to put the book down until the last page. Although this is a short story, it is one that will be remembered for the depth and warmth entwined within the relationship of Laura, Blake, and Matt. Blake is only trying to do what he believes is right regardless of how much it breaks his heart. Laura is driven to have what she wants and that is Blake. Matt is along for the ride providing humor that only a big brother can bring. I was pleasantly surprised with the passion between Laura and Blake as much as I was by the depth of friendship between Matt and Blake. Any little sister would love to have a brother like Matt. Lisa Renee Jones has done a tremendous job writing a story worth reading and passing on to the next sentimental woman you know. Guilty Little Secret is worth definitely worth 5 Angels!
