The Boys of Summer
Sara has spent her life traveling with her parents and now she has finally settled down in Tucson. She has met a wonderful man, but there is a problem. He is the starting pitcher for the Arizona Diamondback and is only in town when he is on the disabled list and rehabbing with the minor league team in Tucson.
Jesse has had a life to remember: starting pitcher for a major league franchise, bad boy reputation that women love, and Sara. Every time he has an injury that requires him to spend time in Tucson, he finds himself in her arms.
It has been quite some time since Jesse has been in Tucson. All of that is about to change, Jesse is back due to a shoulder injury. The time that Sara and Jesse spend together is as explosive as the fireworks on the Fourth of July. Can Sara open her heart and soul to Jesse again even though he might only be in town for a short time? What if Jesse wants more than a minor league romance with Sara? Will Sara and Jesse both be able to have what they want?
Ava McKnight has written a wonderful short story about two characters that want the same thing, but do not quite realize it. When they do, they are met with a beautiful realization that will leave readers touched and glad they were along for the ride. Jesse is the typical bad boy that lives life full throttle. Sara is a woman that loves a man even though she might not get to have him. The chemistry and passion between the two of them is heartfelt. I enjoyed the struggles that Jesse and Sara endure as it only makes the conclusion of this story that much sweeter. The Boys of Summer is a short story mixed with America’s favorite pastime and romance. Ava McKnight has done a great job at creating a tender romance within a few pages and earned 4 Angels in the process!
