The Eyes of the Heart is the second installment in the Contemporary series by Charlene Leonard.

Mattie has just gotten a job of a lifetime and she has no idea just how true of a statement that will be. Leaving Oklahoma City and heading to a lake cabin to care for a grumpy bear, or so she has been told he is, she looks forward to the big bonus she will get. What she finds is a beautifully crafted man like none she has ever laid her eyes upon. Unfortunately, he also comes with a stubborn side. Determined that he will not run her off, she sets out to help him and his wounds heal. Between battling wits with Graham to stay and the arrival of his friends, Mattie finds that she is quite attracted to Graham and wants to be more than his nurse, but cannot afford for her secret to be discovered. Will Mattie be able to persuade a beautiful grumpy bear she is worth the chance while keeping his friends at bay? When Mattie’s past catches up with her, will she find herself all alone and on the run again?

Graham has retreated to his private cabin to heal from an ambush. If his wounds were not bad enough, he also finds himself blind and not sure if it will be temporary or permanent. Waking up to find an uninvited nurse in his home, he is very unhappy and determined to make her leave. Unfortunately, he was not prepared for a couple of things: he is attracted to her and she has a stubborn streak refusing to leave. Then on top of that, his DEA friends show up to keep an eye on him against his wishes also and are check out Mattie. Can Graham keep his control around someone like Mattie? Will he be prepared for what he learns about her? Will Graham be able to be there for Mattie like she was for him when she needs him the most?

Charlene Leonard has written another beautiful installment to her series that offers readers some pain, side-splitting humor, and tender heartfelt romance. Graham is a man who is very proud of his independence, strength, and determination to handle whatever comes his way alone. Mattie is a passionate person who is desperate to protect the ones she cares about even if it causes her loneliness and heartache. Mattie offers Graham the chance of a lifetime and the desire to have what his sister has. With the dangers that surround both Mattie and Graham, they must fight for what they want. The touching love story that develops between them will leave readers warm and fuzzy all over.

The Eyes of the Heart is part of a series that grabbed my attention with the beautifully written surroundings and characters that you cannot forgot. Lucky for me, there are some more installments out there for me to read because I have not had enough. Too many more amazing governmental agents that need to have a story of their own. Charlene Leonard does one amazing job writing so that this story could stand on its own, but trust me when I say there is not a reader out there that could stop after reading this one. The additional friends and co-workers of Graham offer a wonderful addition to this story. Between Mattie’s beautiful personality and Graham’s sense of power, readers will love this couple as much as I did. Charlene Leonard has created a story sure to engross readers with the desire to read it cover to cover only stopping when it has come to a conclusion and finding themselves running to pick up the third installment. The Eyes of the Heart is definitely worth the best rating I can offer: 5 Angels and a Recommended Read!
