Voodoo Nights

The gaiety, romance, ambiance, not to mention the famous Bourbon Street, entices even the not so passionate into the breathtaking beauty of New Orleans. Unfortunately Selena Castillo, a newspaper reporter, has not taken a trip to enjoy all the Cajun festivities or delectable dainties the town has to offer. She has gone to arrange the funeral of her Aunt Isobel. She is met by a chauffeur telling her that he is a FBI agent and that her aunt’s murder might have been the result of an interrupted burglary. Even while grieving over the loss, her reporter’s instinct smells a story. When Agent Lambruzzi advises he will be playing the part of her husband that is one thing she never imagined.

Agent Victor Lambruzzi takes his job seriously. After he meets Selena Castillo at the airport to inform her of her aunt and the job at hand, he finds the woman one tough match. Even when he advises her to stop her meddling before it ruins the case, she still stands her ground. Selena is one determined reporter and having to stick to her like glue isn’t going to be easy.

Voodoo Nights is a book that you don’t want to miss. It is filled with tight writing, great dialogue between the characters, and suspense that keeps you spellbound. Victor may be one agent who is duty bound but his Cajun charm can keep you warm just by the sound of his voice. Ms. Morris’ impressive writing allows her readers to experience the ambience of New Orleans and feel the intense passion that is felt between the characters. I could almost see the expression layered on Selena’s face when Victor said he was pretending to be her husband, not to mention when Victor’s real feelings emerged about Selena. Ms. Morris has written a remarkably great novel. So grab a chair and take an adventure along the streets to Café du Monde with Selena and Victor as paradise awaits after a mystery is solved.
