High Heels and Homicide – A Maggie Kelly Book

Maggie Kelly is back and she’s embroiled in yet another whodunit. The setting this time is merry old England, where the first of her Saint Just mysteries is being made into a movie. Along with her dream-man-come-to-life, Alex Blakely (also known as Alexandre Blake, the Viscount Saint Just), and his trusty sidekick Sterling Balder, Maggie travels to Alex’s “homeland” to watch her words be brought to life. Oddly enough, though, the onset of a series of storms only mirrors the stormy mood inside the set, an old manor house, where members of the cast are dropping like flies. Add a dash of Agatha Christie’s Ten Little Indians, a splash of humming sensual tension between Maggie and Alex, and a cast of terrifyingly funny characters, and you’ve got a runaway story of danger, murder, and assorted mayhem.

High Heels and Homicide is simply hilarious. Ms. Michaels’ wicked talent for comedic mystery shines like Saint Just’s silver stickpin as she wows readers with the latest offering in the Maggie Kelly series. Not having read the other books in this series (Maggie Needs an Alibi, Maggie by the Book, and Maggie Without a Clue), I was a little leery of jumping into a series mid-stream, but I was pleasantly surprised at how the variety of characters grabbed hold of me and commanded my attention until the book’s ending. Alex and Maggie are gems, and watching them waltz around the sparks between them is more than half the fun of this delicious tale. Get out and grab this one while it’s hot, although, if you ask me, the tangible attraction between Maggie and Alex shows no signs of cooling off anytime soon! High Heels and Homicide is a treasure, and I’ll be looking up the others in this series to get my fix until the next one comes out! (Yes, Ms. Michaels, that is a plea for more Maggie...and, just so you know, I’m totally willing to grovel if need be!)
