Nyssa’s Guardian

Fem Nyssa is a genetically created woman of spirit, independence and beauty. She possesses immense talent and is one of the most popular entertainers around. However, when Nyssa starts to receive threatening notes, the High Council steps in and assigns primale Theron to protect her. He’s a celebrated Guardian, a man of high moral standards, a deadly warrior, and unhappily for him, he’s been pulled from his mission to baby-sit.

Their first encounter is explosive and sets the tone for the rest of the story. Nyssa and Theron strike sparks off of each other with the least look. Not only does Nyssa not like having a bodyguard, but she can’t stand that Theron has been bred as an alpha male, a man who dominates the obedients in their society; women bred purposefully to suit and tame the domineering primales. Nyssa however hasn’t been raised as an obedient. Unbeknownst to her, she retains qualities of both primales and obedients, hence the conflicting desires she feels whenever she is around Theron.

Theron can’t believe how attracted he is to Nyssa. He’d always expected to meet an obedient and fall in love, dominating and taking care of her needs and wants as society dictates. Instead, he finds himself falling hard for feisty Nyssa. For this lonely warrior, Nyssa represents the first spark of happiness in a life long filled with waging war. But he knows he has a job to do, and that he can’t let his desires for her control him. Unfortunately, when love strikes this primale, it strikes with vengeance and soon he can’t control his dominant tendencies around Nyssa. Fortunately for Nyssa, she loves it… just as she is coming to quickly learn that having Theron near is a cause for happiness and ecstasy rather than the annoyance she’d like to feel around him. But in a society where primales mate with obedients, and fems mate with mems, can Nyssa and Theron find a way to break those boundaries, while also keeping Nyssa out of danger?

Wow! Nyssa’s Guardian is a steamy and erotic love story between polar opposites. Theron’s more reserved nature is a perfect contrast to Nyssa’s open and sociable personality, making the sparks they create all the more interesting to behold. Theron, despite his dominant traits, is a man very unsure of women and love, making him very endearing to the reader. His hesitancy and inability to convey exactly what he feels for Nyssa makes for not only some humorous situations, but also some very touching and emotional exchanges between the characters. Nyssa is a regular spitfire and readers who are fans of kick butt heroines definitely won’t want to miss out on this story. Because of their roles in society, they are both navigating very tentatively through a new relationship that is explosive while at the same time, very new and different than anything society has seen before. Reese Gabriel has done a fantastic job of establishing a futuristic world where society is regulated and controlled, while at the same time, being an intriguing world to read about. Nyssa’s Guardian is a keeper and another wonderful read from an author who always presents a great combination of sexy D/s antics and plenty of emotional moments that balance out the very erotic qualities. Nyssa and Theron are characters you’re going to have a great time getting to know, and you’ll be a bit sad leaving them behind at the end of the story. Lucky for everyone though, there’s always a reread!
