Disappearing Nightly
Esther Diamond is a struggling actress in the off-off-Broadway musical, Sorcerer!. Her wish is that something, nothing bad of course, would happen to the star of the show, Golly Gee. Then she can step in as her understudy and finally get her big break. Well Esther kind of gets her wish. When Golly Gee climbs into the Crystal Cage to do her nightly disappearing act, she really disappears! With Esther ready to step into Golly’s spangles, the show must go on. Until she starts receiving notes that say that Evil is afoot and Esther must not get into the Crystal Cage or she will suffer the same fate. After finding out that Golly Gee was not the first to disappear, Esther decides that maybe listening to the notes is a good idea. With the help of one uptight and one laid back sorcerer, a Texas big daddy, a trust fund baby, and a gaggle of drag queens, Esther attempts to get to the bottom of this mystery without losing her job or her sanity.
This book is a laugh out loud good time. I could not put it down and loved every second of it. Esther is a quirky New Yorker with a heart. I loved the different characters in this book and found them well-rounded. The story was a truly unique one that was very fun to read. With a great plot, fabulous characters and a wit to die for, Disappearing Nightly earns its Recommended Read status. I look forward to the sequel, Dopplegangster.
