Forbidden Magic
Silver Bancroft is the 13th member of the San Francisco D’Anu coven. She comes from a long line of white witches, but she has strayed from the white path and uses gray magic to help the San Francisco police solve paranormal crimes. When she finds a black magic warlock trying to raise demons from the depths of Otherworld she knows that the white witches and their no-violence attitude cannot handle it themselves. She is visited by a D’Dannan warrior who tells her that the witches must perform a Summoning to receive the assistance needed to defeat the Fomorii.
Hawk knows that he is breaking their pact of non-interference, but he has been told that if he does not interfere, the Fomorii could very well take over the Earth and enslave all those on it. He and Silver must do as they can to stop the ultimate destruction of the Earth.
I was so excited to get this book. It lived up to and surpassed my expectations with its wonderful characters, smoldering heat, and intricate plot. The war of good vs. evil is portrayed in a fascinating way that only Cheyenne McCray can do. I found the heroine’s struggle with balancing on the line between grey and black magic made the battle that much more poignant. Silver was a great character with many facets that made you root for her. Hawk was the perfect blend of caring father and desirable man. I think the loving father aspect made him that much sexier. When he spent time with his daughter in the Otherworld, and they way he talked to Silver about his daughter, really showed his softer side. This book is the set up for a great series that continues in Seduced by Magic out in 2006.
