Second Time Around

Lanie believes Quinn abandoned her five years ago and left her to raise their child alone. Quinn believes that Lanie was the one who divorced and left him. Lanie can’t get married again until she gets a legal divorce from her first husband, Quinn. They find out that Quinn’s father was the culprit and Quinn wants to get to know his son. Added to this mix is Jared, Lanie’s fiancé, who wants to marry her and be a father to her little boy.

Second Time Around is aptly titled as Lanie and Quinn give their marriage another try. Lanie was deeply hurt by what she thought Quinn had done but she made a life for herself. She has raised their child and forged a new life that includes a man who wants her. Quinn is shocked by his discovery of a son. He was injured in an automobile accident and it has taken him years to recover. Quinn comes across as a very nice guy who was deeply hurt when he thought his wife abandoned him in his time of need. They both find out how they were manipulated by Quinn’s father, thus their perspectives and beliefs are turned 180 degrees. Their capacity to love their child is never in question, but whether they can trust one another again looms strongly. Ms. Allred does a great job of developing these characters and the reader really gets involved with them. They truly bring their story to life and the reader can empathize with both of them.

Second Time Around is an emotional love story. It gives us some very memorable characters and each one will leave an indelible mark on the reader. Ultimately it is a “second” chance at love story which works on all levels, from the characters to the storyline, Second Time Around is a definite winner!
