Greenwood Manor

Although Laura Flannery was officially on vacation, she has no plans to go anywhere specific. But she did know that she didn’t want to spend her vacation fetching and carrying for her pushy neighbor like she usually does. So when Ms. Waterby asks about her vacation plans as an avenue to ask for assistance, Laura was looking at a postcard advertisement and blurts out that she was going to Greenwood Manor in New Orleans. But once she arrives at Greenwood Manor, she’s in for a surprise. Even though the manor has been beautifully renovated, there are no other guests. Laura meets the mysterious attendants as well as the resident ghost, Barnabas. When she learns that she is connected to Barnabas and the house, she must face her past life and feelings and decide if she’s willing to risk herself for love.

Ms. Leigh once again delivers with Greenwood Manor. This is a poignant story of love lost and rediscovered, as well as coping with the consequences of decisions made. Barnabas is a tragic figure, losing everything that he held dear and in the process damning himself. But he’s not willing to just give up and searches for hundreds of years to find his love again. At first, Laura doesn’t remember Barnabas but she does recognize that there’s something missing from her life. She comes to realize that she is a strong woman and risks everything in order to be with Barnabas. It was wonderful seeing them find their love again and recognize that it’s even stronger than ever.
