He doesn’t know his last name but he knows that he is not of Asian descent as he looks to be an American with red hair. While Royal is a brutal man he has allowed Daniel to go to college in Hong Kong. Royal is part of Paradise Dragon Enterprises and wheels a lot of power.

All Daniel knows is that he must escape when Royal takes him to America. Royal allows Daniel to flirt in a bar where he falls in love with his angel, that oh so mighty nice looking Taylish. While the feelings are mutual Daniel is a slave, a sexual play toy of Royal’s who has offered the winner of a private gambling game five million dollars. Not only are Daniel and the money part of the prize but also a woman who they’ve captured.

Will the oh, so powerful and evil Royal get Daniel back after he escapes with Taylish? Will someone die?

Two people finally finding real love is a beautiful thing. With Shadows of Wishes by Nix Winter you are taken back to your first love and sexual experiences. While pleasantly pleased the story addresses some very different aspects of life, the seamier side of life. You are rooting for poor abused Daniel to escape his capture, his mentor of pain and abuse, hoping against all odds there is a way for him to start a new life when he arrives in America.

Taylish has you rooting for him to find a lover to share his life with but also thinking what a waste of a man, especially such a good-looking man to be gay. While never having read a book before by Nix Winter I was pleased with how well written it was and how well in tune with the characters feelings I was. After reading Shadows of Wishes I just had to call up some gay friends of mine to recommend this book to, as I knew it was something they would enjoy reading a good M/M book with a plot that made sense as well as left you cheering and rooting for the lovers.
