To Every Love…There is a Season

This story was written during a time when there was unrest between England and Scotland. The discrimination and trust during this time was very dreadful.

David and his father lived across the border from his father’s best friend. The Duke offered protection to him, in his home, for several years. During this time, he was educated and became a knight along with his best friend, Gordon, Ellen’s older brother.

Lady Ellen was an English girl, only six years of age, when David entered her family’s lives. From the moment she first saw him, she was intrigued by him. Due to her father’s trust of her through the years, she is allowed to choose a husband on her own. Ellen embarrasses David during one of his training sessions by announcing that she chooses him for a husband. Before he can apologize to her about his reaction to this situation, he is summoned back to Scotland.

After four years of waiting, David finally comes back to England and makes Ellen his bride. He faces many threats on his life during the early months of their marriage. During a raid on his land, he and Gordon are ambushed and assumed to be dead. Ellen believes in her heart that David or Gordon are still alive, but the King has ordered her to marry another, before her year of mourning is over.

Marissa St. James does a great job with this story. This author does a wonderful job showing her characters desires and passions. Ellen facing the Scots after David’s death just broke your heart. The description of the two very different sides of the border was so real you felt like you were there. I never expected the story to end the way it did. I enjoyed this story so much and I will definitely be looking for more stories from Marissa. I give her 5 angels.
