Miss February
Bret Haverston has loved Callie since childhood. Since their school days, he has asked her to dances, asked her to go out, only to have her turn him down. The thing that annoys him the most is when she laughs off any compliment he gives her. He can have, and has had, any woman he wants, with the exception of the one and only woman he loves. Bret is ready to lay it on the line and tell Callie how he feels, so he asks her to join him on a Valentine’s trip for two to Hawaii.
Callie Stamos is very self-conscious of her body. She feels a size fourteen isn’t something that would draw the attention of a man like Bret. She has always loved Bret, but she feels that she’s not his type. Why would Bret want someone like her when he can have a model? Still feeling down about her recent divorce, Callie agrees to go to Hawaii with Bret. What would it hurt? After all, they’re just friends….right?
Miss February is a quickie that packs a punch. Callie is a heroine with insecurities about her body that we all can identify with. Bret is the kind of hero that we all want. He thinks Callie is sexy, but he also loves her for who she is. Ms. Hayes does a great job of giving just enough character background in this short story. You are easily drawn into this story from the first page. If you are looking for a quick, sexy read, this reviewer recommends Miss February by Madison Hayes.
